πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈVIDEO: HOW TO MAKE A BREATHING STICK WITH YOUR CHILDπŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ

We are all experiencing such surreal times right now, we are out of our normal routines and trying to adapt to this new way of living. If your child is feeling a little overwhelmed at times this is a great tool to introduce them to self regulating their breath. Teaching them calm breathing to regulate their emotions and feelings.

Deep breathing is scientifically proven to combat stress and anxiety. Breath control (Pranayama) plays a huge part in our yoga practice. Deep breaths activate our parasympathetic nervous system and vagus nerve, lowering our heart rate putting the body into 'rest and digest' response.

✴ What do you need?
βœ… Pipe cleaner
βœ… Coloured beads

✴ How do I make the breathing stick?
βœ… Thread 6 beads onto your pipe cleaner.
βœ… Put a loop at each end of the pipe cleaner to stop the beads falling off.

✴ How do I use the breathing stick?
βœ… We are going to take 3 deep long calming breaths using the tool. Moving the 6 beads from one end of the stick to the other.
βœ… Hold the breathing stick and take hold of the first bead with your fingers, INHALE deep and long through the nose whilst moving the bead to the other end of the stick.
βœ… Take hold of the next bead with the fingers and EXHALE deep and long through mouth or nose moving the bead along.
βœ… Repeat the above 3 times using all the beads.

This breathing technique can be repeated as many times as necessary to feel calmer and relaxed.

We hope you enjoy our video, Grace is aged 4 years old and you can see how well she engages with the technique.

Teaching children these life skills at an early age will support their emotional health and wellbeing.

Please let us know how you get on and we would love to see your creations ❀ πŸ₯°

Love and light

Stockton Heath Noise 2020

Stockton Heath Noise 2020 would like you to join them this Saturday from the comfort of your own gardens!

Have some fun with your family and raise some money for good causes πŸŽΆπŸŽ΅πŸŽΆπŸ‘

STAY HOME, STAY SAFE, GLITTER UP and MAKE SOME STOCKTON HEATH NOISE by joining us this Saturday from the comfort of your own gardens!
We want to have some fun and raise some money for good causes so why not join us, follow the set list and play the albums from our line up during their allocated stage time - either from your own collection or via your favourite streaming service (e.g. Apple Music, Spotify and Deeza). Tell your neighbours, crank it up, maybe pitch a tent in the garden and enjoy some of your favorite Indie artists in the sunshine. Don't forget to share your festival fun using #SHN4NHS (an anagram of NHS...see what we did there?) and DONATE if you can at JUSTGIVING - search "Stockton Heath Noise 2020" or use the link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/julie-ann-wilson2
(think the cost of one can of a warm cider at your fave festival..πŸ˜‰)

Also, as we're including the amazing Warrington band Viola Beach as one of our featured artists - any donations to the River Reeves Foundation would be greatly appreciated! We ask this with the blessing of the foundation and also the boys "spiritual home" The Lounge πŸ™Œ

Full set list will be released tomorrow....so please follow, share and tell your friends! Let's show what an amazing community Stockton Heath (and the wider Warrington area) are and let's raise a bit of money for amazing causes!
