We were happy to be back at Callands Primary School yesterday for our new term of after school clubs for their KS1 children. Most of the children were new to yoga.

We practised calming breathing techniques using hoberman spheres and feathers, teaching the children the importance of the breath and self-regulating. We introduced yoga poses listening to a story about an Indian boy then ended with our relaxation. Meditation and relaxation helps children to clear their minds of any worries, concerns or fears. Important life skills to improve mental health whilst also increasing our physical exercise 🙏

Neuroscience shows that 50-year-olds can have the brains of 25-year-olds if they sit quietly and do nothing for 15 minutes a day

Neuroscience research proves how meditation can change your brain for the better. Would you like a 25 year old brain? Then meditation is a solution.

The research showed shrinkages in the amygdala area of the brain which is so positive as this is where we create all our fears, anxiety and aggression. Plus increases in gray matter in several areas of the brain👍

The answer, get meditating 🙏

This Morning

A simple and effective calming breathing technique that we use in our classes with children and young people. If it works for the military it's clearly beneficial.

Thank you This Morning for sharing 🙏

Professional footballers are turning to yoga – here's why

Why Yoga is firmly IN with Premier League Football Clubs. This is a great article from The Telegraph and promotes that yoga IS for men and boys. Which is so positive 👍

If you support Liverpool Football Club watch Mohamed Salah's goal celebrations, he loves 'tree pose' 🌳

Hector Bellerin from Arsenal shares how yoga has helped improve his fitness. At Watford FC yoga is compulsory and used for post match recovery.

Yoga helps to improve strength, flexibility and resilience to injury on a physical level and mentally gives players skills to feel better all around. How you feel impacts your wellbeing and for a footballer, how they perform on the pitch as well as in daily life.

When we work with Schools the boys always feel yoga is not for them and it is for girls. We inform the boys that all top male athletes practise yoga, footballers, rugby players, golfers, tennis players and F1 etc. Once we say this we see the difference in them wishing to take part. We will definitely be referring to this article in our yoga classes 🙏

Euro 1996 is looked upon fondly by English football fans, and rightly so.
