We love our Pre School Yoga and had the pleasure of teaching around 120 children last week at Little Learners Callands and Westbrook sites, St. Philip's Pre School Westbrook, Lynton Private Day Nursery, The Old Vicarage Day Nursery and Statham Little Foxes in Lymm.

Our yoga story this week was "Dear Zoo" by Rod Campbell, so animal themed.

We started our yoga class by warming up our bodies and practicing our Sun Dance.

We practiced our snake breathe making a hissing sound on our exhale 🐍

We repeated our positive affirmation "I am brave"

We then read our "Dear Zoo" story and practiced lots of animal yoga poses. This included an elephant 🐘 , giraffe πŸ¦’ , camel πŸͺ, lion 🦁, monkey 🐡 , snake 🐍 , frog 🐸 and dog 🐢

We ended our yoga class with our calm time under blankets with our yoga teddies learning that it is okay to stop and relax our bodies and minds.

Yoga addresses the 3 Prime Areas of Learning and Development of the EYFS Framework and their associated ELGs.

Please contact us to incorporate yoga as a wellbeing activity at your setting.

Last week at St Bridget's Catholic Primary School, Warrington extra curricular yoga club our theme was "Self esteem". We thoroughly enjoyed teaching this topic.

Our session started with setting a positive intention "I am enough"

Moving onto a breathing exercise teaching the children how to self regulate to bring peace and calm to the body and mind.

We then went into our activity discussing self esteem and what this means.

What we think about ourselves and our abilities. What does good self esteem look like? What does poor self esteem look like?

We all agreed that we need good self esteem and the first steps to this are to love ourselves first, to be kind to ourselves, to believe in ourselves, be grateful for the small things all around us and when we do these things we can share that loving kindness with everyone 🌈

We warmed our bodies up with a few rounds of sun salutations and wood choppers preparing us for our yoga.

Our yoga consisted of several poses and with each pose we said out loud "I am strong" "I am brave" "I am kind" "I am happy" "I am grateful" "I am confident" "I am proud" I am friendly" "I am positive "I am enough"

For our relaxation we practiced a positive mantra using our fingers for the touch connection to the self. Repeating I am confident, I am kind, I am grateful, I am enough, many times.

Ending with our candle gazing meditation to still the mind and bring peace and calm.

Yoga is a way of life, it's not just about the poses, the more you practice yoga it changes your outlook on life and changes your life for the better. You live life with more gratitude and kindness. Which in turn helps you to find your own personal happiness.

We are all different and that is okay, we are all humans with a heart, all on this planet together and we are all unique. So, always believe in yourself as you can achieve anything πŸŒŸπŸ’–
