Only 2 more weeks left for our extra curricular yoga club at Stockton Heath Primary School so we felt it was time to start the festivities and have a "Christmas" Yoga theme ๐ŸŽ…๐ŸŽ„โ˜ƒ๏ธ๐ŸŽ…๐ŸŽ„

We started our class with our mantra which are the Schools Golden Rules.

We practiced our Ho - Ho - Ho breathing exercise ๐ŸŽ… and said our positive affirmation "I am grateful" discussing how particularly at this time of year we should be grateful for everything in our lives as there are so many people less fortunate than us.

We then practiced lots of Christmas yoga poses which included, ๐ŸฆŒ Reindeers - Warrior 1, Santa's Sleigh - Boat Pose, Elves - walking around on our knees, Candy cane - Crescent Moon Pose, ๐ŸŽ„Christmas Trees - Tree Pose, โ„Snowballs - Child Pose, ๐Ÿ˜‡Angels - snow angels on the floor, Candles - Extended Mountain Pose, โ›ธIce Skater - King of the Dance Pose and โ˜ƒ๏ธ Flying Snowman - Warrior 3.

The children enjoyed creating their own Christmas poses too ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ

To relax we ended our practice with a candle gazing meditation to bring focus, peace and calm to the mind and body.

We all enjoyed being festive and the children have requested a Yoga Christmas Party for next weeks end of term class!!! ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽต๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽต๐Ÿฅฐ

If you would like to incorporate yoga as part of your wellbeing initiative at your School please contact us.

Back at St. Augustine's Catholic Primary School for our yoga extra curricular club.

Our theme was "Self esteem" and we thoroughly enjoyed teaching this topic.

Our session started with setting a positive intention "I am enough"

Moving onto a breathing exercise teaching the children how to self regulate to bring peace and calm to the body and mind.

We then went into our activity discussing self esteem and what this means.

What we think about ourselves and our abilities. What does good self esteem look like? What does poor self esteem look like?

We all agreed that we need good self esteem and the first steps to this are to love ourselves first, to be kind to ourselves, to believe in ourselves, be grateful for the small things all around us and when we do these things we can share that loving kindness with everyone โค๐ŸŒˆ

We warmed our bodies up with a few rounds of sun salutations and wood choppers preparing us for our yoga.

Our yoga consisted of several poses and with each pose we said out loud "I am strong" "I am brave" "I am kind" "I am happy" "I am grateful" "I am confident" "I am proud" I am friendly" "I am positive "I am enough"

For our relaxation we practiced a positive mantra using our fingers for the touch connection to the self. Repeating I am confident, I am kind, I am grateful, I am enough, many times.

Ending with our candle gazing meditation to still the mind and bring peace and calm.

Yoga is a way of life, it's not just about the poses, the more you practice yoga it changes your outlook on life and changes your life for the better. You live life with more gratitude and kindness. Which in turn helps you to find your own personal happiness.

We are all different and that is okay, we are all humans with a heart, all on this planet together and we are all unique. So, always believe in yourself as you can achieve anything ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’–

It was our last extra curricular Yoga club at St Peter's Catholic Primary for the term.

So, in our end of term tradition the children enjoyed our yoga choosing stations which included lots of mindful activities (colouring, reading, lego and play doh), yoga poses to practice, hoola hooping, juggling scarves and a breath control station.

We enjoy watching the children interact with each other showing kindness, having fun and hearing lots of laughter.

We have loved working with the children at the School and look forward to continuing our yoga club in the New Year to support their wellbeing.

If you would like to incorporate a yoga Wellbeing Programme at your School as part of the curriculum or extra curriculum please contact us directly.

Sending Christmas blessings to the Children, Staff and Parents at St Peter's Catholic Primary School ๐ŸŽ…๐ŸŽ„

See you all in 2020 ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒŸ
