We love this analogy and links perfectly to our recent yoga themes of kindness, gratitude and self esteem 🙏

You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.

Why did you spill the coffee?

"Because someone bumped into me!!!"

Wrong answer.

You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.

Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.

*Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.*

Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled.

*So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?"*

When life gets tough, what spills over?

Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility?

Anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions?

Life provides the cup, YOU choose how to fill it.

Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others.

(Shared from a friend whose cup is full of goodness and inspiration.)

What a great day!!! 😀

Working in partnership with YourLiveWire we delivered yoga to over 90 children as part of their 'Health and Wellbeing Experience Day'. This was our first one and we absolutely loved it ❤

Our theme today was "Self esteem" and we thoroughly enjoyed teaching this topic.

Our session started with setting a positive intention "I am enough"

Moving onto a breathing exercise teaching the children how to self regulate to bring peace and calm to the body and mind.

We then went into our activity discussing self esteem and what this means.

What we think about ourselves and our abilities. What does good self esteem look like? What does poor self esteem look like?

We all agreed that we need good self esteem and the first steps to this are to love ourselves first, to be kind to ourselves, to believe in ourselves, be grateful for the small things all around us and when we do these things we can share that loving kindness with everyone ❤🌈

We warmed our bodies up with a few rounds of sun salutations and wood choppers preparing us for our yoga.

Our yoga consisted of several poses and with each pose we said out loud "I am strong" "I am brave" "I am kind" "I am happy" "I am grateful" "I am confident" "I am proud" I am friendly" "I am positive "I am enough"

For our relaxation we practiced a positive mantra using our fingers for the touch connection to the self. Repeating I am confident, I am kind, I am grateful, I am enough, many times.

Ending with our meditation listening to the Kindess Mantra by Kira Willey to relax the body and mind.

Yoga is a way of life, it's not just about the poses, the more you practice yoga it changes your outlook on life and changes your life for the better. You live life with more gratitude and kindness. Which in turn helps you to find your own personal happiness.

We are all different and that is okay, we are all humans with a heart, all on this planet together and we are all unique. So, always believe in yourself as you can achieve anything 🌟💖

Namaste 🙏

YoungMinds on Twitter

YoungMinds are urging people to share this video to highlight the crisis we face in the UK with our children and young people's mental health. #ActEarly

Early intervention is key and Schools are the perfect environments to educate and support children from a young age. Teach them vital life skill tools like yoga, meditation, self regulation techniques that will prepare them for adult life. Prevent later breakdowns in mental health and reduce the stress on our already struggling NHS services and CAMHS.

This crisis makes us so sad and this is what drives us to want to help as many children as we can in our local community.

Yoga is scientifically proven to improve both physical health and mental wellbeing. Yes, yoga is an ancient discipline but it is needed in our society more than ever before.

It is a low cost solution and a no brainer in our eyes!!!

Yoga in every School 🙏
