Photos from Graceful Minds Childrens Yoga's post

Back to school for most children today....and back to us focusing on getting Yoga into Schools.

We know that Yoga and mindfulness are cost efficient ways to support both physical and mental health.

Next September the PSHE curriculum becomes compulsory where every child MUST be taught health education.

The new Ofsted Framework for this September has a new judgement category 'Personal Development' focusing on mental health and wellbeing.

The Education secretary said
'Good physical and mental health is at the heart of ensuring young people are ready for the adult world. By making health education compulsory we are giving young people the tools they need to be ready to thrive when they leave school'

Yoga is one such tool so if your School doesn't already offer this, maybe this year is the year to start?

Please contact us if you would like to incorporate yoga into your curriculum. We are taking bookings.

Namaste 🙏

✴Day 5 - Alphabet Yoga✴

⭐Letter Jj for Jellyfish 🦑or Wind Releasing Pose

✅Benefits: This pose improves the quality and efficiency of the digestive system. The pose helps to release tension in the lower back, hips and thighs. It soothes stiffness in the spine whilst toning the muscles of the abdomen. Hugging the knees into the chest.

We add shaking our legs and arms in the air to make the pose fun for children to imagine they are a jellyfish.

⭐Letter Kk for Koala 🐨 or Eagle Pose

✅ Benefits: This pose is a standing balance pose that strengthens the lower body, opens the shoulders and improves balance, focus and concentration. Hold the pose for 5 seconds or longer!

⭐Letter Ll for Lion 🦁 or Lion's Breath

✅Benefits: The Lion's Breath can free you from negative emotions allowing you to feel centered and grounded. It's an energising breath that awakens the body and calms the mind. Helping to expel any pent up anger, frustration and stagnant physical energy. Have fun with this pose 🦁😀

⭐Letter Mm for Moon 🌝🌛🌜or Crescent Moon Pose

✅Benefits: This is a standing pose that stretches both sides of the body. Practiced regularly this pose will develop the core body strength, make the spine flexible and improve circulation.

We are sorry about the 2 videos today as WhatsApp stopped our video when messages came through (very annoying). We only have one take at recording with a 4 year old! She won't do re-takes!

Grace did say Namaste at the end but again WhatsApp cut us off.

So Namaste everyone 🙏

We hope you enjoy our video and please leave your comments ❤

Why Goldie believes yoga can improve young people’s mental well-being

We love hearing positive yoga stories for young people. Gangs and knife crime is a huge problem in our society so well done to Goldie for his work and advocating yoga.

Yoga is a mind and body medicine. Connect to the self and the conscious mind. Find inner peace and happiness 🙏

Could a mixture of yoga and music improve the mental well-being of young people struggling with poverty, gangs and violence?
